Tho’rak, a legendary elven warrior, participated in countless wars in the first centuries of Erendorn. During one of his travels, he met a nun named Vahull.
It was love at first sight.
Vahull taught Tho’rak the secrets of spiritual healing. But Tho’rak possessed a heart so noble, just, and unshakable that something different happened.
The gods touched him.
He began to channel healing magic directly into his sword and shield, transforming faith into steel, and steel into light.
Thus was born the first Paladin.
Tho’rak realized he was not just a healed warrior. He had become something new.
An absolute protector. A judge of war. A living shield.
With the support of the Catholic Church, he founded the Order of Paladins and, with the help of one of the first dwarven kings of northern Miralorn, built a great sacred garrison to train and maintain an army of Paladins.
Thus was officially born the Paladin class.
The Paladin does not fight for glory. He fights for:
He does not seek to win. He seeks to prevent evil from advancing.
After the Act of Taboo involving Vahull, Tho’rak ordered a golden statue erected in her honor.
He began to pray to her. And declared her, in secret, a goddess.
Since then, Paladins continue to pray for Vahull — hidden from the Catholic Church, which never officially recognized her divinity.
Thus, every Paladin lives divided between: The public faith of the Church. And the secret devotion to Vahull.
The Paladin is the walking wall. He combines:
He can protect an entire army… or fall alone so that no one else falls.
Paladins are one of the few classes that can operate without a direct link to the Adventurers Guild.
This occurs due to a treaty between: Catholic Church, Adventurers Guild, and Paladin Orders.
They possess autonomy, influence, and their own authority. Therefore, Paladins are always present in: Adventurer groups, Armies, War councils, Political meetings, Treaties between kingdoms.
Where a Paladin speaks, kings listen.
Paladins are living proof that faith can be born of love. But also that love can become heresy.
They are: The sword of the Church. The shield of the innocent. And the living memory of Vahull.
“Where a Paladin stands, evil does not advance — even if the whole world falls around him.”
Every Paladin carries three oaths:
Even if it puts him against kings, churches, or gods.
