Golems

Artificial Magical Creatures

Origin: Created by ancient mages as guardians of temples and dungeons.

Description

Golems are magical constructs made of stone, metal, or wood, animated by arcane magic. They have no will of their own and follow the orders of their creators or whoever controls their power rune.

Characteristics

  • Immune to conventional magic
  • Immense strength
  • Indestructible body (except for the control rune)
  • No emotions or consciousness
  • Can be reprogrammed or destroyed if the rune is damaged

Habitat

Ancient temples, magical dungeons, arcanist fortresses.

Threat

High - especially for adventurers without magical knowledge.

Notes

Some Golems have been corrupted by shadow magic and become independent threats.

Raphaarym

Ancestral Demonic Creatures

Origin: Primordial beings that have existed since before the creation of Erendorn, originating from the Prisons of the Fallen.

Description

Raphaarym are demonic creatures of immense power, with fluid and mutable bodies, composed of shadow and arcane energy. They are intelligent, malevolent, and constantly seek to escape their prisons to consume the world.

  • Supernatural intelligence
  • Devastating shadow magic
  • Mutable and nearly indestructible body
  • Immunity to conventional weapons
  • Ability to corrupt and possess other creatures
  • Extreme regeneration

Habitat

Prisons of the Fallen, shadow dimensions, places of great magical corruption.

Threat

Critical - Raphaarym are existential threats to Erendorn.

Notes

Raphaarym are frequently mentioned in ancient texts as 'The Fallen' or 'The Devoured'. Their liberation would be catastrophic.
